With its shaded boulevards, its streets reminiscent of the past and its
beautful mansions built in the Middle Ages and 17th and 18th centuries, its
mighty and impressive Duchy with its high walls, towers overlooking the
medieval town centre, Uzès deserves the tile of Town of Arts. The Duchy has
belonged to the same family since the 12th century and is still occupied by
the Duke and his family!
In Uzès, you will find an abundance of wonderful shops, cafés restaurants of
all kinds, a cathedral and a church, both of baroque type, and above all,
the famous ”Place aux Herbes”, with its typical arcades and renowned
Provençal market every Saturday morning and fresh local products market on
Wednesday morning.
Many festivals are organized throughout the summer (Baroque Music, Modern
Danse, World Music), as well as typical southern popular festivities with
horses and bulls.
Uzès is a favourite with numerous artists, painters, writers, and a lively
cultural life. It is located close to the Pont du Gard, to Nimes, Avignon,
Arles, and not far from the sea and the beautiful Cévennes montains (both at
about 60 km).
All this makes it unforgettable and explains why people from all over the
world come and visit it.
The accommodation comprises a 25 square meter independent studio, located in
a small garden in the very centre of the city (150 m away from Place aux
Herbes). The room is nicely decorated, and comprises 1 double bed and 1
single bed; it has a fully equipped kitchenette with large refrigerator, gas
cooker, electric oven, sink. There is a shower, basin and separate toilets.
The studio has 5 windows overlooking the garden.
Linen is provided free of charge.
Meals can be taken in the garden in the shade.
A private parking place is available, also free of charge. |
